Welcome to the official website of Harwood Timber Sdn Bhd (HTSB), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (STIDC).

 

30 years is a major milestone for an organisation . It is a strong testimony of its resilience, sustainability and growth in facing the many challenges especially in the timber industry in Sarawak.

 

From a small timber trading company in 1985 with a handful of staff, Harwood, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation has grown from strength to strength to a total staff force of about 380 and has offices throughout the main regions of Sarawak.

 

“ 30 Years of Integrity “ really signifies our company value system and a timely reminder to Harwood staff on the importance of having the quality of honesty and high moral principles in carrying out their work and to counter any inducement for corrupt practices.

 

Our management in Harwood practices zero tolerance for staff who have committed malpractices. This has been made possible through the implementation of a robust internal control system such as a vigilant task force, internal audit and regular seminars on integrity and good governance. Most of all the management team walk the talk by making regular visits on the ground and handle the situation head on.

 

Over the years we have collaborated with Suruhanjaya Pencegahan Rasuah Malaysia (SPRM) by sharing information on our log endorsement system with the objective of instilling values of integrity, transparency and honesty which form part of our core values.

 

To reinforce and promote the value of integrity, transparency and good governance, we had organised a series of seminars on Integriti & Pencegahan Rasuah by SPRM Sarawak for our head office and regional offices.

 

Harwood has put in place a resilient Information Technology (IT) network and infra-structure with a pool of skilled personnel to carry out its log inspections program entrusted by the State Government. To this end we have developed our own log tracking system called HENDIS. The reports generated are being shared with the Ministry of Resource Planning and Environment and other related agencies. In addition, the monthly reports produced for the timber companies are used by them to verify against their own records and also to support the legality of their logs and timber products.

 

Harwood being an ISO 9001:2008 certified company takes pride in delivering professional and valued added service to the timber industry and we will continuously improve its service to meet the expectation of its customers and stakeholders.

 

In our effort to contribute towards a sustainable timber industry in Sarawak, we have taken another important step towards this by collaborating with Sarawak Forestry Corporation Sdn Bhd (SFC) to venture into the plantation of indigenous species and forest landscape restoration project. SFC will provide the expertise in this field and MOU between Harwood and SFC has been signed .

 

Harwood has also been re-appointed as the Authorized Agency under Section 64 (1)(C) of the Forests Ordinance, 2015.

 

Going forward, Harwood has diversified into other businesses as part of our long term growth strategy such as rubber nursery and plantation, timber trading to cater for the need of the furniture industry, afforestation and property development. Harwood has also contributed to the communities through a series of Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives and assistance.
